1. App Preferences

• Thumbnail generation enabled/disabled
• Notification preferences
• Completion sound preferences
• Verification mode preference

Purpose: To remember your preferences and provide a personalized experience.

Storage Location: macOS UserDefaults (local to your Mac only)

Retention: Stored until you change the preference or uninstall the app

2. Copy History

• Last 10 copy operations with statistics (file counts, sizes, durations, speeds)
• Source and destination paths
• Verification results
• Copy completion timestamps

Purpose: To allow you to review past copy operations and export statistics.

Storage Location: macOS UserDefaults (local to your Mac only)

Retention: Maximum of 10 operations (oldest automatically removed). You can clear history at any time.

Note: Copy history contains file paths and statistics but does not include file contents.

3. Security-Scoped Bookmarks

• Encrypted bookmarks for source and destination folders/volumes you select
• Display labels for selected folders

Purpose: To remember your selected source and destination locations across app restarts (required by macOS App Sandbox).

Storage Location: macOS UserDefaults (local to your Mac only)

Retention: Stored until you clear the selection or uninstall the app

Security: These are macOS security-scoped bookmarks that only allow access to folders you explicitly selected. They cannot access other files on your system.

4. Selected iOS Device ID

• UUID of the last selected iOS device (if applicable)

Purpose: To remember which iOS device you selected for copying.

Storage Location: macOS UserDefaults (local to your Mac only)

Retention: Stored until you select a different device or uninstall the app

Permission: User-Selected Files (Read/Write)

What We Access:

• Files and folders you explicitly select as source or destination
• Files you choose to copy

How We Use It:

• To copy files from source to destination
• To verify copied files (if verification is enabled)
• To generate PDF reports (saved to destination folder)
• To create thumbnails for media files (if enabled)

User Control:

• You choose which files/folders to access
• Access is granted only when you select a file/folder
• Access persists only through security-scoped bookmarks (you can revoke by clearing selections)

iOS Device Access

Permission: Camera/Photo Library Access

What We Access:

• Photos and videos from connected iPhone/iPad devices via USB
• Device metadata (device name, type)

How We Use It:

• To detect connected iOS devices
• To enumerate photos and videos on the device
• To copy media files from device to your Mac

User Control:

• Access is only requested when you select an iOS device
• You can disconnect the device at any time
• No data is stored on the device

Printing Access

Permission: Printing

What We Access:

• Access to macOS print services

How We Use It:

• To allow you to print copy statistics and reports

• Printing is only initiated when you click the "Print" button

You can delete all DitCopy data by:

3. Clearing Selections: Click "Clear" on source/destination cards
4. Uninstalling: Delete the app from your Mac (removes all stored data)

Export Your Data

You can export your copy history:

• Export as JSON (machine-readable)
• Export as CSV (spreadsheet-compatible)
• Export as Text (human-readable)
• Copy statistics to clipboard

All exports are saved to a location you choose and remain on your device.
